Contemporary Preschool Children's Knowledge and Preferences of Fairy Tales

This bachelor's thesis deals with fairy tales in relation to contemporary children of pre-school age and their knowledge and preferences of these fairy tales. My ambition is to point out what is the meaning and value of fairy tales for children as well as the importance and benefits of children's fairy tales knowledge and preference investigation. In my opinion, it is necessary to find out how children are currently doing in the field of fairy tales to let it contribute to their development. The theoretical section of this thesis is dedicated to characteristics of the preschool children in relation to the topic of this thesis as well as to the factors influencing children's reading which include family, kindergarten teachers, reading-stimulating environment and libraries. Also there is a part dedicated to literature characteristics for children as well as generations raising today's children and their relationship to children's literature. It can also affect children's relationship to literature. The next important area in the section is the fairy tale itself, its characteristics, types and fairy tale characters as well as the role of the fairy tale in kindergarten and what interaction options it brings. Czech talls in French

The folk tales of Karel Jaromír Erben and Božena Němcová are an integral part of Czech culture and tradition. Erben and Němcová's fairy tales have been translated into many world languages, including French. Thanks to these translations, awareness of the Czech language and local culture is spread worldwide. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to determine which fairy tales by Erben and Němcová have been translated into French and to provide examples of some publishing houses that have published Czech fairy tales in French, as well as the availability and reception of these fairy tales by readers. At the end of the work, French translations are compared to their Czech originals, with a focus on a more detailed comparison of the original French fairy tale La Belle aux cheveux d'or by Madame d'Aulnoy with the Czech version by Karel Jaromír Erben of Goldilocks. Based on the comparison of selected literary texts, it is found that the French translations do not differ from the Czech originals in any significant way, with fairy tale motifs and intentions remaining preserved, but characteristics of characters may change, as is the case with La Belle aux cheveux d'or.

Grimms Fairy Tales and their Reception in the Czech Literature of the 19th Century

This thesis aims to describe the collecting of oral folk literature and the activity of Karel Jaromír Erben and the Brothers Grimm in the fairy-tale area that is connected to it and to highlight the importance of these authors in both Czech and German culture. First, the literary genre called fairy-tale is defined, which is followed by the theories on the origin and production of fairy-tales. Furthermore, life stages of these authors, impulses for collecting and continuation of oral folk literature are explained in the next part of this thesis. Finally, adaptation of similar topics by the above mentioned authors is compared and analysed in closer detail.

TITLE: About definition of the folk fairy-tale genre and about elaboration of the Snow-white theme in collections of chosen german authors (J. K. A. Musäus, A. L. Grimm and J. and W. Grimm) SUMMARY: This diploma thesis is concerned with the fairy-tale genre, which is defined as the folk fairy-tale, Snow-white theme and elaborations of this theme in collections of J. K. A. Musäus, A. L. Grimm and the Brothers Grimm. In context of the historico-literary period and in connection with the folk fairy-tale genre all processing are analysed and compared with each other. Märchen (1971) of Max Lüthi and Deutsche Märchen vor Grimm (1942) of Albert Wesselski are the fundamental publikations for this thesis. The main result is that the caption »Sneewittchen« of the Brothers Grimm correspondes closest to the folk fairy-tale genre, while »Richilde« of J. K. A. Musäus and »Schneewittchen« of A. L. Grimm as author's fairy-tale should be called. Diatopic changes in the range of characters of the French-Czech fairy tales

THE ABSTRAKT This thesis aims to cover typological differences between the fairy tale characters from French (Charles Perrault, Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy) and Czech (Božena Němcová, Karel Jaromír Erben) folklore fairy tales. First, the author presents the definition of fairy tale (Vladimir Yakovlevič Propp, Karel Čapek), which is defined from the point of view of different theories. This thesis covers only the characters from folklore fairy tales, therefore the folklore fairy tale will be shortly defined as well. The thesis also analyses the differences of the behaviour and the portrait of the characters appearing in thematically similar fairy tales. The message of fairy tales for children in kindergarten

This thesis deals with classical fairy tale in the life of pre-school children. The aim of the thesis is to find out any chances if implementing fairy-tale projects so that they could attract contemporary pre-school children, deliver their message and simultaneously correspond with the FEPPE (Framework Education Programme for Preschool Children) targets. The theoretical part deals with developmental stages of apre-school child together with characteristic developmental peculiarities classification. The second part classifies both symbolism and characteristic features of afairy tale. The third part deals with an importance of a fairy tale in a pre-school child´s life and its usage in the framework of pre-school education. The practical part contains a creation of projects which are based on fairy-tales motifs and their implementation with a group of children.
